We Were in Vilnius Croatia -- Relates to Georgia

some 10 years ago, and at a dinner where someone from the state department said the reason the US wanted all the former-Soviet countries to join NATO was so that we could sell them billions of dollars of military equipment which was a precondition to joining.

If this is the "raison-detre" for wooing Georgia, ...

Last September we saw the booming economy of Georgia and the reverence most had for George Bush. Still, there was something "tinny" about the situation. There was a meeting/large riot going on which we watched from a hotel restaurant. People were roughed up. Later the police said: "We had never been taught how to read someone his rights. The only thing we knew was hit them over the head and drag them off."

Tbilisi was like a small, beautiful town, perhaps not unlike Cincinnati. Beautiful park near where Genny lived.
