You Want a Job, Don't You?

"You want a job, don't you?"

"It's all word-association and where you come from, Mr. Cain. You're from Happy Valley; I HAVE a Happy Valley. You say poTAto, I say Palo Alto; you say toMAtoe, I say toMAHto.You say Paterno, I say Patino; your team is Seduce-U I think Sandusky; you say McQuery, I say Ceder Point. Let's talk about overtime. Or we'll cross that Tressel when we come to it."

Natural Gas Guru: Charlie Rose

Natural Gas Guru: Charlie Rose: "From Christopher Buckley, on Charlie Rose a year ago, describing his dad William F. Buckley:

[Christopher] 'I found this quote by Carlyle: 'Let me have my own way exactly in everything and a sunnier and more pleasant creature does not exist.''"

Ohio State Recruits Spain for Drum Majorette to Dot the "I" in Script Ohio

(c)2010 F. Bruce Abel

Gordon Gee announced the signing of a Majorette from Barcelona to lead the Ohio State Band out on the field for all games the next four seasons. Type in "Barcelona" within this blog and see second item down (third, now, since this blog has the word "Barcelona" too).

Better yet I'll create a new Label and call it "Barcelona."

Natural Gas Guru: Hot Air

Natural Gas Guru: Hot Air:
(c) 2010 F. Bruce Abel

The funniest quote, ever. Steve Martin in The New Yorker on "The New Causality":

"'It's easy to understand how one physical thing can influence another physical thing: my car hit your car because I was blinded by your shiny hair barrette. But what about emotional causality? Can my harsh words affect your mood, costing you millions of dollars that you would have earned behind the counter at Burger King? Apparently so. Several months ago, a male office worker was awarded sixty-seven thousand dollars because a female co-worker asked him if he would like her to drop his 'package' off at the post office; he was further awarded fifty thousand dollars after arguing that she was also in constant possession of a vagina, the knowledge of which rendered him unable to concentrate.'"

Constant Possession of a Vagina

(c) 2010 F. Bruce Abel

My thoughts about Margaret Wente resemble those of Steve Martin in the following favorite of mine from The New Yorker:

Natural Gas Guru: Search results for steve martin: "It's easy to understand how one physical thing can influence another physical thing: my car hit your car because I was blinded by your shiny hair barrette. But what about emotional causality? Can my harsh words affect your mood, costing you millions of dollars that you would have earned behind the counter at Burger King? Apparently so. How I became a real Canadian - The Globe and Mail

How I became a real Canadian - The Globe and Mail:

Margaret Wente:

"A Canadian is someone who knows how to have sex in a canoe.
–Pierre Berton

Thirty years ago, in 1979, I became a Canadian citizen. I stood up in citizenship court, along with dozens of complete strangers, and pledged an oath to the Queen. I had it easy. Most of them had crossed an ocean and learned a new language; I had merely crossed a border. Afterward, we all shook hands, and I cried.
The next step, obviously, was to have sex in a canoe."

Carlyle

From Christopher Buckley, on Charlie Rose earlier this week, talking about his dad William F.:

"I found this quote by Carlyle: 'Let me have my own way exactly in everything and a sunnier and more pleasant creature does not exist.'"

This is So Good it Fits Into Many Categories

Poor John Edwards.

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/10/weekinreview/10stanley.html

I don't know about your server, but when I type "e" onto google to get articles from the Cincinnati Enquirer, and I call up "Enquirer," John Edwards story in the National Enquirer of his adulterous affair is always listed third on the page:

"Sen. John Edwards Caught With Mistress and Love Child in L.A."

What a horrible ending to this talented man's political career.

But on to today's well-written story:
