The US and NATO have gone out of their way to seek to provocate Russia. Starting with not consulting Putin before they beat up Russia’s little brother Serbia over Kosovo. The actual bombing of Serbia territory was witnessed by Putin and it changed him. He realized that he couldn’t trust Bush, the US or NATO and immediately started rebuilding the military and developing the new missiles. He also stated that Russian policy would be just like that of the US from here on out. We will do only what is in the best interests of Russia. Then the charade with recognizing Kosovo where the Russians immediately changed their policy on Abkhazia and South Ossetia to agree with US policy. Then their US and NATO puppet in Georgia attacks Russian citizens and Peace Keepers and the Russians retaliate with such force. This is without even starting to talk about what the US and NATO are doing to Russia about putting missiles on Russia’s doorstep or stealing their oil and gas.Russia has done nothing but look out for their own interests here and protect themselves from Bush, the US, and NATO. What the US has done in Poland gives the Russians every right to do the same thing in Cuba. They are already flying bombers into Cuba with cruise missiles that can’t be shot down. The Russians have been expecting this so don’t be shocked by much more trouble ahead. Just thank the Bush Administration and don’t blame it on Russia for looking out for their interests in defense.

To Bob who responded to David:
Oh yes, the US has a lot of credibility over Iraq. What was it that did the most to help our credibility, lying about WMD’s or perhaps lying about the links to Al Qaeda? Are you aware that most people in Europe have long considered George Bush to be a far worse threat to peace than Vladmir Putin? This includes the English who blundered into Iraq.
Try reading non American sources to get a less slanted view of the world.

It is the duty of our government and armed forces to support, maintain, and prolong democracy. “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America…with liberty and justice for all.” Our Pledge of Allegiance is worded accordingly for a reason. The American people need to understand that with technology improving dramatically over the past century, we are that much closer to STRONGER opposition to our way of life and government.
The great thing about the USA is that our founding fathers left our Constitution open for change. We are a Democratic Republic, and the ONLY way to ensure that we can continue to grow and adapt is to PROTECT, DEFEND, and PROLONG democracy.
The wars of the past were not meaningless. Iraq is not meaningless, no matter how the mission was started or if/when it is accomplished. I am a liberal American, upset with the dishonesty and embarassment of how Iraq began, but Iraq should make everyone think: What really is the reason for it? If I am SO smart and understand the world SO well, why do I disagree with it? And finally…
As an American, what is democracy to you?
Though America may not be perfect (poverty, etc.), is our DEMOCRACY causing this, our is our call to action, and the majority of the people failing? With time comes change. Let’s hope that change around the world is TOWARD our way of life.
Power. To. The. People.

Media are starting to become a problem for true democracy and freedom that must be based on well informed citizens. This electors maturity will never be achieved if every media is willing to please the master.
The criminal war and invasion of Irak was based on a series of lies and fabricated news. While in some western countries some media were professional enough to questionate all the bullshit neocons were selling the world, in the US most media didnt really make their job and served as tools for the agression. That explains while, in countries with a less biassed information, opposition to war was overwhelming, in the US the citizens supported such bloody slaughter. In my country, Spain, up to 80% were against the invasion and citizens sacked from the government Mr Aznar because of his Irak and Madrid bombs lies.
We could expect western media would have learned the lesson, but current Georgia crisis is showing that their guilty cooperation with political power is stronger than ever. Havent Journalists meditate about their poor work dealing with Irak propaganda? It’s not clear enough now that western media were as guilty as the gang Bush-Bliar-Aznar in the Irak disaster? How many lives costed the journalists not doing their job then? How many lives and trouble can cost the journalists not making their job now?
The missile shield in Poland is an amazing example of this amateurism: It’s obvious for any educated person with a map on sight that this shield, just in front of european Russia, is ment to neutralize Russia and end with MAD doctrine. Any military expert would tell any journalist (if there was such journalist) that the mantra saying that this shiled is planned against Iran is ridiculous. If Iran was the menace NATO has much better places for the shield like Turkey, Bulgaria, Israel etc.But western media will repeat this silly idea as a true and unquestionable fact, reporting the russian version as something suspicious and false! Has any journalist meditate about the conscuences of the end of MAD doctrine? Shame on our media!
The Versailles treaty and its consecuences should teach any responsible politician the danger of encircling and bulling a humiliated nation.

How are the U.S. major media allowed to reference both Bush and McCain stating that ‘in the 21st Century ( as if these two were in the 21st Century) nations do not invade nations” without speaking the obvious? Wasn’t March 2003 in the 21st Century or was it the Paleolithic period? Absolutely everyone sees the dark irony of Bush scolding anyone on occupying a sovereign nation and killing innocent civilians. So I guess the NY Times and others do not see where they need to mention it.
