Health Care Comment on Krugman's Good Article

One point in this excellent column should be clarified. Many Americans might think that $5000 is enough for a good health insurance policy because they don't keep track of how much their employer is contributing. It should be stated explicitly that families will now have to pay the whole cost of insurance, since employers will no longer be involved. And figures like the $12000 one that you cite as the average current cost of a policy should be broken down into the contributions of employer and employee.Perhaps I am too cynical, but why do I suspect that the McCain folks are happy if people fail to appreciate the importance of this fact, and compare $5000 only to what is deducted from their pay every year?
