Aggregation

(c) 2009 F. Bruce Abel

We were playing at our bridge group in Anderson Township Saturday night. At the Dettmers.

John pointed out:

Dominion Resources is offering a competitive electric rate to individual ratepayers of Anderson Township, through mailings last week. More on this later.

"We are able to offer you a low fixed electricity price of 6.88 cents per kwh that is guaranteed through your December 2010 meter read date....20% lower than Duke's current Price-to-Compare of 8.61 cents per kwh..."

"Instead of Duke's price that changes quarterly, lock-in guaranteed fixed price of 6.88 cents per kwh through your December 2010 meter read date."

[Note that December meter read date means November, 2010 usage.]

This raises the question of what aggregation, which is being voted on by Glendale in November, gains over being individually solicited. To my knowledge the individuals of Glendale did not get the letter from Dominion.

It is interesting about the timing of the letter to Anderson Township ratepayers. It came after August 20, the deadline for getting a matter on the general ballot for November. Getting a metter on a Special Ballot costs a village $3500.
