Is there anyone else like me who feels a sense of the utterly surreal when I listen to the Republicans at their convention? The disaster of the last eight years - the taking of power based on was the usurpation of a a stolen election (three million African-American votes in southern states, a brazenly partisan decision by the Supreme Court), a usurpation that has produced unquestionably the most striking series of impeachable offenses by the most inside of the Washington insiders (the Bushes, Cheney, all their monied lobbyist backers like Abramoff), and, hence, a coup d'etat that has meant unmitigated disaster not only for America but for the rest of the world (example: ignoring climate change), based on a privatized White House given over to corporate decisions for corporate profits, the politicization of the Justice Department, the politicization of science, government hiring for important posts based solely on Republican affiliation, etc. etc. etc. So: is there anyone else like me who finds it, yet again, absolutely incredible how the Republicans can make the most outlandish assertions with scarcely a reaction than the extremely mild rebuke of this editorial? Am I and friends of mine who feel this this way the only people who we are living in an Alice-in-Wonderland nightmare?
